Breeding and Foals

Breeding in ModN Equine uses a custom system. It is not vanilla Minecraft horse breeding.

You cannot simply use normal vanilla breeding items and expect a ModN Equine foal. Breeding has its own requirements, items, cooldowns, and foal lifecycle.

Basic Requirements of Parents

To breed two horses, the system generally requires:

two different horses a mare and a stallion both horses owned by you bothand horsesfrom spawnedyour in/h the worldpanel
neither horse already involved in another breeding lifecycle neither horseor listed for sale on the market
the mare fed today both parents in good energy and health condition
both parents off breeding cooldown the requiredtwo Horse Breeding Potions in your inventory if one is a fjord, the other horse must be the same kind of fjord

If one of these requirements is not met, breeding will not start.

Horse Breeding Potions

Breeding uses Horse Breeding Potions.

You normallycan needobtain twothese potionsfrom the following places:

/shop (for real life money) /questshop (for tokens you can earn on /questboard) /ah (when players list them for asale) breedingfrom attempt.

Keep these in your inventory when preparing to breed.

Mare Care

The mare must be properly cared for before breeding.

Energyby Requirements

Both parents need to be in good energy condition.

If either horse is too tired, feed and care for them before trying again.

Market Restrictions

Horses listedclicking on the marketShady cannotguy be used for breeding.

Cancelat the listingend firstof ifthe youdock)

decide to keep and breed a horse.

Cooldowns

Breeding has cooldowns.

If a horse has bred recently, it may need time before it can breed again.

Foal InheritanceStats

Foals inherit information from their parents.

This can include:

• 1. motherthe mare's breed

the coat color (50% to get the stallion's color and father50% recordsto get the mare's color) breedthe informationcoat pattern (50% to get the stallion's pattern and 50% to get the mare's pattern) coatan oraverage styleof informationthe progressionparent's influencedspeed and jump stats (add the two speed stats and divide by both2. parentsdo the same for jump)

Breeding is therefore part of long-term stable planning.

PregnancyFoal and BirthLifecycle

After breeding starts, the foal is not immediately a mature horse.

The system tracks the foal through a lifecycle. You maywill receive status messages about pregnant mares, nursing mares, or foals that need care.care every time you join the game.

Foals

In the beginning, a foal is only an egg icon in your /h panel, and not a physical foal. Once one week passes, the foal is born (with a message in chat) and grows for two more weeks before becoming an adult horse.

Foals are young horsesunrideable and cannotdo benot riddenneed feeding. To keep a foal alive, you must feed its mother daily until theythat mature.

Adopted Foals

Adopted foals have special feeding rules.

They must be fed with a bucket of milk each day until they mature.

Normal horse food iscannot notbe used foras adopteda foal milk care.

Good Breeding Preparation

Before starting breeding, check:

both horses are yours both horses are spawned neither horse is listedsubstitute for sale the mare has been fed today both horses have good energy both horses are off cooldown you have the required Horse Breeding Potions

Troubleshooting

If breeding does not work, the most common reasons are:milk.

one horse is not yours one horse is despawned the mare has not been fed today one horse is too tired one horse is listed on the market one horse is still on cooldown you do not have enough breeding potions the horses are not an eligible pair
